The dad of my roommate has been staying with us for the past few days since my roommate just had some surgery and needs extra supervision. He is a really nice guy. He asked me to fix his laptop a few days ago, and after I did he was so happy that he bought me some dinner.

I went to play tennis yesterday. It was pretty intense by my standards and now a day later I think I pulled some muscle in my shoulder since it hurts to move my arm in certain directions.
Today I went to get my racket restrung. After I parked and while walking to the tennis shop I saw this scraggly cat sitting in a parking lot. I always try to pet any cat I see while I am out and about and this was no exception. I walked up to it expecting it to run away like all outdoor cats I encounter but this one did not seem afraid at all. He actually started walking towards me as I called out to it. Before I knew it he was rubbing his face on my leg as I was trying to take pictures of it. After a few minutes I had to leave and he followed me for a bit but then stopped. When I was walking back to my car later he was still in the same spot laying in the shade. I walked up to it again and it started making some weird noises (like it was trying to meow but something was wrong with its voice). I played with it for a little while more and then left.

I finished deus ex today. The second half of the game was like a blur since after you gain enough of the special powers you can finish missions pretty fast (being able to cloak yourself for long periods of time makes it so you can run past all the guards and not get caught). And plus, the game seems to just throw plenty of powerful weapons and lots of ammo at you later in the game. The game was fun though. I usually dont have the attention span to fully complete games nowadays but this one was good enough to finish.
too much game

I am still playing Deus Ex. It is fun. Hopefully I finish it soon. I am also very sore from working out on Tuesday.
I watched Contagion today. I usually do not go see movies in movie theaters but the sciency ones catch my interest and watching them on a big screen and be a nice change of pace. About a month ago I watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes and I loved that movie, so I thought I would see another and enjoy the same type of experience. The movie itself was just alright. The first half was very exciting as the disease was spreading and everyone was trying to figure out what to do. Everything went sort of downhill during the second half, though. They had a few different storylines going on and the way they were ending them was not very satisfying. The very last moment of the movie is when they finally revealed how the disease came into existence, and while it did answer the question, it just felt a bit anticlimactic they way they slapped in onto my face. Overall I would give it a 6/10. the end

This weekend I have been playing the new Deus Ex (Human Revolution) game. I never played any of the other games in this series so I was sure was to expect. The game is about a guy who was pretty much killed by a mysterious group of attackers, but got brought back from the dead with cybernetic enhancements. Now I get to use and upgrade these enhancements throughout the game to complete my objectives and find out more about the people who attacked me. Having not played the original, this game feels like a combination of Metal Gear Solid (stealth aspects), Mass Effect (conversation/skill trees), Half-Life [1/2] (well integrated levels), Prototype and Crysis (superpowers). I guess you could say it borrows from a lot of recent popular games. The good thing is that is takes all of the good parts from each of those games. I like it so far, and hopefully I can finish it before I get distracted by something else in my life. The only bad thing about the game so far is the loading times when switching between areas or to reload after you die. If you have a good enough computer I recommend checking it out if you have the time and resources.

Two guys have left my company in the last week. They were guys my age whose lives required them to get away from Parasoft. Every time a young guy leaves I always think about what is next for me and how maybe I need a change of scenery as well. This feeling usually goes away within a few weeks.

I was really sore all day because I went to this fitness class thing on Tuesday that is part of my muay thai regimen. I have to get better by tomorrow so that I can go to the next class with not too much pain. Someone at work recommended that I ingest a large amount of protein so that I feel better tomorrow, so I did so. I drank a bottle of milk, a protein smoothie thing, ate a bunch of chicken, and also ate some soy beans. Now my stomach hurts, the end.

So summer is pretty much over. The weather is starting to get a bit cooler and things are starting to change. It actually was not that hot for a lot of the summer, it was pretty much the middle of August to the middle of September where it was really hot, but other than that it was a pretty tolerable season. This last month where the weather was hot went by like a blur. I would literally just be sitting in my room sweating like I was in a sauna and could not really do much except watch tv shows and movies on my computer while I perspired. But now that I am not sweating anymore I feel good and foresee great things to come in the future.

I saw a guy walking down the street today. I think he might have been homeless since he was looking a bit haggard. He had a cat standing on his shoulder, and it looked like the cat really wanted to be there since the guy wasnt holding it down or anything. The guy was just walking along with his buddy tagging along. He must have been a Pokemon trainer in a past life.
work and nostalgia

Even though I only had to work 4 days this week I noticed that it is going by incredibly slow. This is probably because I am working on something incredibly boring at work so the days go by very slowly. I have been rewatching episodes of Dragon Ball Z after work. I have to fast forward through most parts since they tend to stand around a lot between fights but it is worth it to relive my childhood memories.
first day of class

One of my chums at work invited me to this Christian learning seminar thing this past Tuesday. It is supposed to be an educational thing to teach newcomers what Christianity is all about. I decided to go to it because it sounded vaguely interesting and plus there was a free dinner. This first meeting was pretty much an introduction to the people there and to what the course will be about. We split off into the groups that we will be in for the entire 10 week course and spent time just getting to know each other. We watched a short video about a guy who found god at some point during his life and is now preaching to others about his journey, and then we talked in our groups about some basic religious issues. My takeaway message from this first class was that people like the idea of a persistent being that always there to love and accept them. I dont think this class will change my religious beliefs, but I always enjoy insights into the ways that other people think and live their lives, and plus everyone there seems really nice (and I like hanging out with nice people).
back to school

Even though I do not go to school anymore I still feel the energy in the air from the people who actually do have to start going to school again. This is mainly because I have to drive by a community college on my way home from work and pass all the youngins sitting around on campus. I kind of miss school only because it was nice being around people my own age and also because learning new and different things can be interesting sometimes. I do not miss the homework though. I may go back to school someday, who knows.

For the past few years I have been wanting to run in the LA marathon, which occurs every March. It is about this time of the year that I decide that I want to start training for it. It has never worked out yet, but this time I think I really might go through with it. The only thing I am worried about is my bad knee. It is mostly ok, but when I start running the constant pounding of feet against floor makes it start to feel like it is going to explode. I will have to see how my training goes in the next few months before I can determine if my precious knee can handle a marathon.
