Super Mario RPG took me by surprise when I first played it over a decade ago. I was used to
the more traditional 2D side-scrolling games of the era so when I started the game I wasn't quite sure what was going on or what to do. I wasn't used to a game where you had to start from the beginning and follow along with the story. Once I got into it though I was hooked, causing it to become one of my favorite games. I especially enjoyed its graphical style with the 2D isometric view. It was like I was playing a 3D game on my Super Nintendo. It also had an enjoyable battle system that's more entertaining than what many RPGs do nowadays.
