About Pokemon

The world is filled with Pokemon. No one quite knows how they came to be, but they have always been in the world. Some theories suggest that they came somewhere from outerspace since there are several that can live in the cold vaccum of space. It's also possible they came from another time period altogether or a different dimension. Some of these Pokemon have insane Universe-breaking abilities so it's difficult to say for sure what they are or how they came to be. Despite the unknowns, we do know that they evolved to get to their current state.

Pokemon Evolution

Most of the time, Pokemon start out as some baby/young/undeveloped formed and evolve once they get strong enough.

Most of the time they evolve when they reach a certain level but there are many Pokemon that evolve through other means.

People and Pokemon

In the world of Pokemon you travel the world trying to become the greatest Pokemon trainer. Once kids turn the age of 10 they are allowed to leave their homes and start on their own Pokemon adventure. Everyone is usually given a Pokemon to start out with. This Pokemon is young and weak but as you adventure together you both gain experience and get physically stronger, as well as emotionally and mentally stronger. All trainers are out to win so things can get tough.

The PokeDex

A Pokedex is a handhelp computer-like device that acts as sort of a mini-encyclopedia of all the Pokemon. If a trainer runs into an unknown Pokemon they can pull out their Pokedex and it will give them some small snippets of information about the Pokemon.

Pokemon come in 17 different types. Different types are weak/strong against other types so that's why it's important to have a well balanced team. Here are all the types listed below.

Pokemon Abilities

Pokemon are able to fight each other using abilites they learn. They can learn abilites through gaining experince and leveling up, or be taught moves using special items. Moves have a type associated with them (listed above). A move can't have more than one type. When in battle, a move's type determine's how effective it is against the opponent. For example, if you use an electric-type move against a water-type opponent then you deal extra damage since water is weak to electricity.
